We did it. We shot the movie.
After a 15 day shoot at more than a dozen locations across New York City, we got our feature film "Sidewalk Traffic," in the can.
It's a comedy/drama about a struggling filmmaker, carrying a whole lot of personal and professional baggage, freshly unemployed and suddenly thrust into full-time fatherhood of his infant daughter. Blessed with a lovely and exceedingly patient and supportive wife, a hot project and a willingness to relentlessly endure the abuse that goes along with life in "the industry," Sidewalk Traffic is a funny, touching and infuriatingly relevant film.
This film speaks to anyone who has ever held on to an impossible dream, no matter the costs. It also speaks to anyone who has ever struggled to love and support a person with that kind of singular passion.
The cast includes Samm Levine, who you'll know from "Freaks and Geeks" and "Inglorious Basterds," Heather Matarazzo from "Welcome the Dollhouse," and "The Princess Diaries" legendary MTV News host Kurt Loder, the hilarious comedian Tom Shillue, the dynamic comic, musician and author Dave Hill, and our outstanding lead performers Johnny Hopkins and Erin Darke.
Sidewalk Traffic was shot on the Red EPIC by our Director of Photography David Kruta, who was nominated for Best Cinematographer at this year's Sundance Film Festival for his work on the very-buzzed about and soon to be released "Concussion."
Our incredibly dedicated and talented production team brought their vitality and creativity to the set every long, grueling day of the shoot. On an extremely modest budget, they all contributed to making this movie look like a million bucks.
We are truly proud of this film.
But we're not done yet.
We are currently in post-production and need to raise funds for all those subtle, technical and expensive tweaks that turn raw footage into a film fit for the big screen, including:
SOUND DESIGN:
You may not notice it, but every second of a feature film has sound mixed into the final product. It adds atmosphere, realism and depth.
SOUNDTRACK:
Songs that make it into a feature film come with a price, both for usage and publishing.
COLOR CORRECTION:
A hugely important and (when done well) extremely subtle enhancement to the look of a finished film.
FILM FESTIVAL BUDGET:
The expense of completing and delivering a finished feature film is substantial. To say nothing of the costs incurred by filmmakers once they make it to the festivals!
That's where you come in.
You can help us with a contribution, and I assure you, at our budget level, every dollar counts. We've got all kinds of benefits to giving (which you can see on the right of your screen), but almost as important is helping us spread the word.
Please, share this with campaign with your Facebook people, your Twitter followers, or anyone you know with a big, generous heart and an appreciation for the art and craft of truly independent film, and original storytelling.
With your support, we can fulfill a lifelong dream, and complete the outstanding work of our cast and crew, by bringing this film to the big screen.
Thanks from everyone with Team Sidewalk Traffic.
